Recently, I’ve been trading some of my shifts to work at new locations throughout WDW and Friday I worked at Animal Kingdom so I decided to get my costume the day before! After costuming, I went home to eat some lunch & relax a little before class time at 4! The other class I’m taking is Disney Heritage, which is a 4 week seminar all about Disney history. This morning I took my time getting up and went to Starbucks to get some coffee before I drove to Animal Kingdom costuming. Thursday, April 12thĪnother day off! Since I have classes on Mondays and Thursdays, I usually have both of those days off. After my shift, I met up with one of my friends at Miller’s Ale House (one of my new favorite places) to get some much needed food! On some nights I like to do this since it’s hard to meet up with friends with opposite schedules or I’ll go out to eat after a shift with some coworkers. With stocking at the Christmas store you’re stocking the merchandise (mainly ornaments) on stage, stocking register supplies, and logging packages for guests. I usually enjoy these shifts because you’re pretty much on your own and it’s a very chill day. After, we walked around the resort outside since it was a beautiful day! My shift started at 2:45 and it was a stocking shift at the Christmas store. I had another later shift today, however, this morning I got up early to eat breakfast at the Grand Floridian! I went to 1900 Park Fare with two of my friends, which is a character dining with Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Alice, and the Mad Hatter! It was a delicious breakfast and definitely worth it. I was exhausted after my shift ended at 11, so I drove home right after and went to bed! Wednesday, April 11th It was my friend Mitch’s 21st birthday so I met up with him at Epcot to hang out for a few hours before work! That day I worked at the Christmas Store at the Magic Kingdom, and it was a very slow shift because hardly anyone was in the park with it being a rainy day. Since I usually work night shifts, I got to sleep in a little this morning! Typically I go to Starbucks after I wake up and then make some breakfast at my apartment. For dinner I drove 5 minutes over to Disney Springs to pick something up and walk around for a bit! Then, it was a night of Netflix in bed (something I hadn’t done in awhile!) Tuesday, April 10th After spending a few hours in the park, I drove home to relax for a little. Usually after this I’ll go to a park, which is exactly what I did! After class on Monday I went to Animal Kingdom where I walked around, rode Everest, and met Russell! What I love about living and working here is being able to go to a park for as little or as long as I want. On Monday mornings I have my corporate communication class from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. "Then he's having a good time with his family, and they remember that moment," Parkany said.Hi everyone! Just thought I would give you an overview of what a typical week in my life is here! I’ll be going over what I did each day this past week to give you a general idea of what I do 🙂 Monday, April 9th

She highlighted times when she was able to crack a smile out of a "stubborn 14-year-old boy at the table who's too cool for Winnie the Pooh." "You're going through interactions with so many guests in a short period of time," she said.Īlthough some shifts required a lot of mental fortitude, Parkany said these interactions were both the best and worst part of working at Disney World.

"There were days when I would come home from a shift, and I wouldn't know if I had a good day or a bad day because you're just like, kind of in this headspace of processing it all," she said.įor instance, when Parkany worked shifts at character-dining restaurants, she said she might stop at a table full of fussy children, move to a more somber one where a guest is celebrating being cancer-free, and end at a table of indifferent teenagers. She told Insider she wasn't expecting every shift to be such an "emotional roller coaster." But not everyone comes to the parks in an excited, happy mood. Some of Parkany's most memorable shifts at Disney included helping teens with a promposal and an expecting couple with a gender reveal.
